My first crochet project - ever

After many failed attempts at learning to crochet, I made another start.
I found a project in a learn to crochet book for a small throw.  Of course, once I was off and running, I couldn't stop at a throw.
It grew into a queen size bedspread.
Here it is, folded up on top of my bed.  It isn't a very good photo, but I might try and take a better one later.
(update: I have replaced the original photo)
After all, I AM very proud of it.

But, after only my first crochet project, I already have a tip to share with you - SEW IN ALL THE ENDS AS YOU GO!
I learned this the hard way.....
Cheers

  1. Hi! I found my way here from attic24. I saw your comment there. Lucy inspired me to get back into crochet too! My yarn addiction lead to knitting. But I wanted to stop by and say I love your blanket. It's beautiful. I'll be stopping by often. :)

  3. Ooh, I just crocheted my first blanket (giant granny square) and I'm already hankering for a hexagonal one - well done, yours is amazing!

  4. That is really beautiful and very impressive for a first hooky creation! Do you mind me asking about the pattern, as - to me, at least - it is most unusual. I love the flower design that appears in each hexagon.

I live in Cape Town, South Africa, and discovered the delight of crochet in July this year. I started off with a granny square queen-size throw-over made up of 72 squares and have now been busy with a bright, hexagon creation which I just love. I have also just discovered how to crochet beautiful hearts which just make my heart skip with joy!

Good luck with keeping up your blog and with your future creations!

    Bye for now,
    Kari

  5. Thanks Eleni,

Kari, the pattern came from a book called "Crochet Basics", by Jan Eaton.
If you have trouble finding the hexagonal pattern - let me know and ill email you the instructions for the hexagon.
    cheers
