Honest.
But, it was taking FOREVER to crochet those arms and legs, and after eating junk at Christmas, my head is not playing patient, soooooooo.........
The African Flower Bag! (which saw here on ravelry)
I did my joining differently, choosing to have a visible ridge between blocks.
The side views.
I also chose to line mine, which the ravelry version wasn't.
I cut out the fabric to be roughly a centimetre wider than the crochet shape.
Then I pinned.
Then I clipped the inside corners.
Then I turned the lining under and stiched to the crochet with sewing thread (cotton). I made sure to stitch the lining underneath the top row of crochet, as that would need to be free to finish joining the bag.
Now it gets crocheted together to form sides.
I crocheted the handles on and the edging around the top of the bag.
Maybe next post will be the finished kitty cat - but I'm not promising anything......

That is soooo helpful (sew helpful?!) as I haven;t the foggiest about lining a bag etc and want to when mine is completed. TY!
ReplyDeleteI so like that you lined your bag. A lining always helps to make a bag more sturdy and helps keep pens and other things from poking through. I love your bag. I keep wanting to make one myself but am in some sort of funky time warp since the holidays. My mother gave me a huge spool of variegated crochet cotton and I am back to knitting dishcloths. For some reason I seem to think I need to work that thread up before I can start the other million and one things I keep telling myself I "must" make, lol.

ReplyDeleteI love your purse and that flower hexagon pattern. I wonder if I could do it. I might have to try. I'm starting to do with crochet what I do with knitting. I get stuck on the easy stuff and never go any further with it. I think I shall add to my resolution list...to follow more patterns.
