Hiding in the box ....

So here I found on a shelf, in a seldom used corner of the shed.......

This painted box.

I wonder what I stashed away in there?

The lid with painted flowers on it might be a bit of a hint.

Ah hah!  This is obviously where I threw all those crocheted flowers and bits and bobs, cos I couldn't think of what to do with them.

But, I do like to look at them.
Not sure what I'll do with them -  but they are pretty.

I think some of them were destined to be brooches.

This one has sparkly beads sewn into the centre.

And these are from my 'large rose' phase

And then I went delicate.

A couple of them have some felt sewn onto the bag, waiting to be a brooch, or hat decoration, or something.

Oh, and I tried to needlefelt this one after it was crocheted.
What do you think of the effect?  It sort of makes it look vintage, I think.

These were the yoyo brooches that I didn't end up making into brooches.

And these - hmmmm, not really sure.
These were needlefelted and beaded.
Sort of reminds me of the ocean and rock pools.

Another brooch idea.

More needlefelting.

cheers

  1. Drooling! I wish I stashed something away like that! I love the felted one, it does look vintage. I love them all! You should make a bag or a scarf or a pillow or something and embroider a few stems and put the flowers on the stems...or use them like they did in that freeform crochet book. SO many possibilities. I'm gonna make some...

    1. OOh, yes, they could be useful for that freeform stuff......

      The mind wanders...

You should make some - and I want to see them.

  4. Hi Fi,
I read your sweet comment on my blog a little while ago. I've been getting to know you through your folk art blog, and this one. Your artwork is beautiful! I love the vintage feel of your painting...it would go well with my decorating style. I also love crochet, but I don't really know how to do it - my daughter has tried to teach me, but I just can't seem to get the hang of it. The brooches you made are lovely. I did paint my blog banner...watercolor is my favorite medium to work in. I like to dabble in lots of different arts and crafts. I'm most happy when I'm creating! I look forward to reading more of your blogs. You're my first Australian friend :)

Happy to have a new yo-yo buddy!

  5. Oh Fi, what a little box of treasures you have found after being stashed away for awhile. What a delight! I guess it was just meant to be that you made them and tucked them away for a later time. It will be quite interesting to see what you decide to do with all of them. The possibilities are endless.

  6. Hello! I think you'll have to make a very simple bag and then sew all these beauties onto it - one huge garden type bag!!! I loved them all but especially the ones with beads... lol x

  7. Hey Fi, it's been a while since I popped over for a visit, now it's time to play catchup.......

Maybe you could use some of those flowers and sew them onto a tea cosy.... I have a bag similar to your lovely painted box and it's full of crocheted flowers in various designs. Some of them I use to decorate pressies and parcels with.....

Love the ocean/rockpool brooches, gorgeous colours and of course I always love a birds nest with blue eggs, too sweet.
